DRY CHARGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRY FORMED LEAD ACID BATTERIES
Home > Technical Documents > Dry Charge Inst
- Dry charged batteries should be stored in a clean and dry location with a constant temperature between +55°F (+12.8°C) and +80° F(+26.7°C). The storage period should not exceed one (1) year from the date of the original shipment. Do not fill batteries prior to the start of the charging process.
- For use, each cell should be filled to one-half (1/2) inch above the top of the plate separators with approved grades of electrolyte, having a specific gravity of 1.220 @ +77°F (+25°C) corrected.
- The cells should stand a minimum of one (1) hour to a maximum of four (4) hours prior to any charging. Possible cell damage may occur, if this time is not observed
- Charging current should be applied for up to 168 hours or until a full charge specific gravity of 1.225/ 1.235 @ +77°F (+25°C) has been obtained over three (3) consecutive hourly readings. Charger voltage should be 2.25/2.36 v.p.c. During any charging period, electrolyte temperature should not be allowed to exceed +110°F (+43°C) nor should the level of electrolyte be allowed to drop as to expose the plate separators.
- Upon completion of the initial charge, the electrolyte level should be topped off to the high level mark by the addition of distilled water or electrolyte maintaining a specific gravity of no higher than 1.225 @ +77°F (+25°C).
